One Step Closer To Tahrir Square

In yesterdays Guardian, Naomi Wolf writes a compelling piece and I think a very important piece explaining the brutal crackdown of the OWS Demonstrations in America. She explains how it is being done, why it is being done and who is responsible and why we all should be outraged and out in the streets.
She concludes her article with this paragraph:
Sadly, Americans this week have come one step closer to being true brothers and sisters of the protesters in Tahrir Square. Like them, our own national leaders, who likely see their own personal wealth under threat from transparency and reform, are now making war upon us.

I support OWS, but as the saying goes--you can't artificially create urgency. Only when enough people have bottomed-out; or have enough genuine outrage will the movement go to the next level. Its difficult to know what I want--things to get worse so that people will finally be willed to real action? Or for the economy to improve and get everybody's boats back up and running ('til the next wave of mass consumption, corruption, and crash!!). Either way, things sure aint standing still!!!!

Re reading wolfs article, i think she is a little hasty in making the co ordinated homeland security connection. there are a lot of good points, but i was waiting for more evidence before i would say it. i dio believe that there is a lot of conferencing going on between mayors with ows stuff going on in their cities and i believe that bloombergs police targeting of reporters is very counter productive and dangerous.
