We Have A Dream!

This Resolution to Impeach George Bush and Dick Cheney was passed unanimously by the Detroit City Council in session yesterday May 16th. The City of Detroit has joined a number of towns and cities across the United States brave enough to stand up and demand the impeachment of this tragically inept, corrupt and criminal administration.
I am printing the resolution in full. The administration hasn't failed us only in its insane pursuit of Folly with its nebulous goals in Iraq, but on such a tragic national level, its total abandonment of any responsibility to the needs of the survivors of Katrina, it's neglect of any real solutions or goals regarding the plight of Americas great Industrial cities. Ineptness abounds, but ignoring the United States Constitution and thumbing its nose at all international law is where the real criminality lies. Torture, illegal abductions, secret prison camps, illegal spying on it's own citizens, ignoring all boundaries of the separation of church and state, using the government as a tool for personal enrichment......
Of course, I've left things out and missed a few specific reasons for impeachment, add your own favorites. The important thing is to talk impeachment! Make it part of of the daily discussions of the people around you! The more people who dream of an idea, the more real it becomes!

Resolution to Impeach President George W. Bush and Vice-President Richard B. Cheney

Introduced by Council President Pro Tempore Monica Conyers and Council Member JoAnn Watson

Passed in the Name of the Full Council, Wednesday, May 16, 2007

WHEREAS, George W. Bush and Richard B. Cheney conspired with others to defraud the United States of America by intentionally misleading Congress and the public regarding the threat from Iraq in order to justify a war in violation of Title 18 United States Code, Section 371; and

WHEREAS, George W. Bush has admitted to ordering the National Security Agency to conduct electronic surveillance of American civilians without seeking warrants from the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court of Review, duly constituted by Congress in 1978, in violation of Title 50 United States Code, Section 1805; and

WHEREAS, George W. Bush and Richard B. Cheney acted to strip American citizens of their constitutional rights by ordering indefinite detention without access to legal counsel, without charge and without the opportunity to appear before a civil judicial officer to challenge the detention, based solely on the discretionary designation by the President of a U.S. citizen as an "enemy combatant", all in subversion of law; and

WHEREAS, In all of this George W. Bush and Richard B. Cheney have acted in a manner contrary to their trust as President and Vice President, subversive of constitutional government to the great prejudice of the cause of law and justice, and to the manifest injury of the people of the City of Detroit and of the United States of America; and

Hello Microdot,
I may have been responsible for Jerry’s final departure. You see, I was in Lynchburg, VA this last Friday through Sunday. I was participating in long debates with people on political issues while I was there. It must have gotten back to Falwell that I was in the center of his realm enlighten people of the true facts on the corruption within this administration and I converted a few to the true light and …..Well the blame has to be put on me. My bad?

The Detroit Council ought to do something about the murder rate in their city and stop worrying about our comparatively war-light losses in Detroit --not that those aren't grievous losses --but they are light for war with such a formidable foe as Alquaeda who killed 3000 or our civilians in an hour or so. How come they can't clean up their city and bring peace there???

it's disgraceful when a city would do that to our president when he hasn't done anything wrong intentionally.

I know you think he lied about WMD; that's ridiculous since intelligence sources had everybody convinced. I still say Sadam was the WMD --and Iraq did want democracy, did vote and make a constitution and a parliament --and we are right to stay and drive alkaeda out of there and help this democracy stand.

Facts mean nothing to liberals who hate no matter what the facts are.

Al-queda in Iraq?

Prior to the invasion, Iraq was a secular state that was an archrival to the anti secularist Al Quaeda. There were absolutely no ties to Al-Quaeda whatsoever.

After the invasion, the Administration had absolutely no plans for securing the peace, despite pleas by the pentagon for more troops and their opposition to de-Baathification. So eventually anarchy prevailed and the country became unsecured. Al-Queada began to filter in and established a foothold. Since there basically are no military solutions to the intractable sectarian problems in Iraq, the United States is going to leave. It’s just a matter of time. So we will leave the country in anarchy and allow Al-Queada to establish an even firmer foothold in Iraq. It will be terrorist central. So basically the Bush administration is fighting the terrorists by handing them a new base of operations.

I know this had been said before but it is worth repeating.

In 1991 on the ABC program, “This Week” the then Secretary of Defense, Dick Cheney stated that the administration’s reason for not going into Iraq at that time was, “They preferred the stability in Iraq under Saddam to what was predicted as a Civil War with the U.S. troops caught in a quagmire between the two religious fractions.”

If Cheney knew and predicted this type of event, WHY DID WE GET INTO THIS MESS AGAIN? Oh yes, I remember; Iraq has oil!!

"it's disgraceful when a city would do that to our president when he hasn't done anything wrong intentionally."

“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but it is morally treasonable to the American public.”

I do agree that the Detroit City Council needs to spend more time on local issues, but Barb's position vis a vis Saddam/WMD isn't even spouted by the Bush administration anymore.

This is no longer 2003, Barb. You can stop believing the WMD fairy tales.

The Bush ad'n isn't admitting to lying about WMD as accused --they've just moved on to why we need to stay until Iraq can stand free of the terrorists.

Bush has always said that they've adjusted as they go along --they can't predict everything about the other side --

Yes, we didn't go in at the end of the Gulf War when the Shia hoped we would --and there was much criticism of Bush Sr. for not finishing Sadam off.

So Jr. goes back to finish the job since we are over there and got Afghanistan democracy started --and we get our man --start a democratic gov't --people voted --parliament was elected --constitution approved --BUT the factions erupted aggravated by outsiders --as Cheany said they KNEW was a risk going in.

I don't mind people criticizing Bush --I don't like the cries for impeachment when Bush is such a well-intentioned president who is honest and trying to do what's best for the country. To say we think they should've done something different --mainly they mean we should never have gone there --but I'm not sure about that. We have opened the Iraqis eyes to the west and it hasn't been all bad just because there has been some bad.

Every enterprise has its critics and naysayers --especially when the Dems want desperately to get a Democratic president so they can re-shape America into their vision of civil paradise --gay marriage, unlimited abortion, transgenders paid for by insurance, no religious influence in the public square, criminalizing preaching of the Bible on moral issues if it hurts anyone's feelings, muzzle on Christian teaching and Christian activists, immigration of poor people to vote Democratic for gov't hand-outs and increase union membership.

Detroit is up in arms over war in Iraq because of death toll there (and maybe because of all their muslim citizens in Detroit --who did rejoice when Sadam fell) --when Detroit cannot control its own citizens. Go figure!

These people work with Kwame Killpatrick, they ought to worry about his criminal organisation and ineptness before trying to go after the federal govt.
