I just got a chance to see this film again. One of my very favorites, a very black little comedy from 1951, really a great theatrical piece with a great cast, including Fernandel set in the frozen mountains of the Ardeche in the 1840's. The title song is sung by a very young Yves Montand. It would be worth learning French just to see this film.
