Run That By Me Again?

All day long, I have been periodically checking satellite TV and the internet trying to figure out what happened in America yesterday. Now as far as I can figure out, many more Democrats cast their votes for Hillary and Barack than Republicans wasted on their slate of Dr. Strangelove wannabees and religious redicivists.

Barack Obama won the popular vote in 13 States and Hillary won in 9. Of course the big states Hillary won have bigger populations like California and New York. Still at this point in time, every source I find says that Obama has the most delegates determined by the popular vote. It's 590 for Hillary and 603 for Obama.
But, still Hillary has the lead in total delegates 783 to 709. How is this possible? Because a bunch of Democratic party officials got together and decided that they prefer Hillary in spite of the fact that the voters gave Obama the lead. To only increase your confusion, let me explain:
In addition to the delegates each candidate wins based upon how well they do in each state, each state's Senators, Members of the House, Governor and certain Democratic National Committee officials are their own delegates and they get to vote too. But they don't get to vote like you get to vote. No. They're already delegates, and they get to choose who they throw their delegate vote behind. So what happens is that so far in this race Obama is ahead. But Hillary has a lead in Superdelegates over Obama, 2-1. Those Superdelegates - i.e., party officials that have nothing to do with your vote - have decided to give Hillary the lead in spite of your vote. How do you like that?

Now, if Hillary ends up having the lead in delegates but Obama wins anyway by getting most of the Superdelegates I'll be just as upset. This is no way to pick a president; a bunch of mostly-white mostly-rich mostly-men getting together and deciding if we're smart enough to pick our own candidate. If either candidate has fewer "real" delegates than their opponent, but wins by virtue of their Superdelegates, I think you're going to see a civil war. Imagine what will happen in the black community if a bunch of white Democrats are perceived to have taken the election away from the first black presidential nominee? Imagine how they're going to feel towards the Democratic party in the future? And for that matter, imagine how Hillary voters are going to feel towards Obama if she wins the real delegates but he wins by virtue of the Superdelegates?

Our system is a joke. They ought to split the Superdelegates now, 50-50 and be done with it.

The GOP is loving all of this. Both of them ought to sit down and come to the agreement that an Obama/Clinton tiket would sweep the nation.

Otherwise we'll have 100 Year War McCain.

I really miss Barb, ol- buddy Microdot! And you have so few commenters over here; why don't you invite her back?? : D

Krikey, Mudrake, that's like saying Voldemort in the Harry Potter Books.

I've changed my mind. I think a Huckabee-Romney or a Huckabee-Rice ticket would be excellent.

Hello microdot,

I'd like to thank you for your comment on my blog.

I hope that you participate in our discussions, as you're one of very few visitors (they are already few :P) who are in favor of blog's principles, majority are against.

Nice to hear from you,

Mohamed

Yeah, Mudrake, Huckabee Romney, now that's a dream team!
Are you sure thatt you have recovered from your forced Fox Television experience yet?

Condi? C'est totalement ludique!

Well, you know, I used to be a liberal democrat, but I got sick of being called liberal --with all those negative connotations --so now I've been watching a lot of FOX and I've seen the light, y'see!

Are you saying Condi would be totally ludicrous? My french is a little non-existant. I really think she'd be a great VEEP. But Romney was the business man and we should've got behind him, probably. Those 3 senators have had no experience running any business --they are DC insiders part of the problem.

Take it from me --my name isn't Mudrake for nothing!

It really does look like the Dems are split right down the middle as to who we want for our candidate. I hope that it continues an even split and that Hil and Barack see the light and unite for the sake of our country.

I'm in Cincy tonight, staying in a luxury hotel paid for by somebody else -- wheee! Have laptop will travel. Tomorrow will be lots of work followed by an evening of great theatre, I hope -- two plays written in France: No Exit and End Game. Can't wait!

Microdot- apparently the angry lady has resorted to using my name for her comments. or else it is Kooz or baldy or some other nutcase.

How very pathetic.

How very funny! Tsk Tsk

It's obviously not you, Mudrake. It's someone with a sense of humor.

It's interesting that everyone you suspect is a Christian --ALL nutcases, right? And you would call them ALL bigoted.

Hmmmm...do we play 20 questions?
The anonymous mystery date knew all the details of the bizarre claims that the bodacious one made on PQP.
Still trying to smear me by claiming I post under other people names and inferring that I have time to be involved in someones stinky little blog swamp life....
Smells like?
Naw, I asked her specifically to never try to contact me again, but maybe her coimpulsive little fingers have a life of their own?

What a pathetic creepy little jerk!

You know, this is beginning to be like an internet version of the Alfred Hitchcock Movie "Psycho"
I think Madame Anonymous's blog is kind of like a cyber "Bates Motel".
There is a figure in a rocking chair in a window in the creepy old mansion...but is it the blogger formerly known as Kooz? Or is it....?
Cue soundtrack music of shrieking violins...

Whatever you do, don't try to use the shower!

At least someone is finally reading your blog besides Mud_rake.

okay, madame anonymous...
get lost, I'm putting up air fresheners to get rid of the stench.

Hello Micro dot,
I think that this "Anonymous" is the waste wad at the bottom of the toilet that pretended to be the combat Marine vet that posted on Mud Rake's site. He thinks that he is clever. What does he mean that Mud Rake is the only one who reads your blog? He is not very informed about much at all.

To Chick-in Sh-t Anonymous,
I am the Active Republican Party member, combat vet of Viet Nam and South America that really is what you wished you were and pretend to be.

Hello Anonymous,
No, I am not Microdot. I am from the Eastern Shore of Maryland and an active member of the Republican Party belonging to the 1st Congressional district. I have Jack Kemp’s business card in my wallet right now. I have discussed with him in the past on different subjects that I think the Republican Party is wrong about and are hurting the party as a whole. I participate in the Wye Institute think tank dealing with a lot of different subjects. You may have heard of John Nash’s Game theory, this is used a lot to play out different scenarios of current issues.

I am also glad to hear that you are not the poser on Mud Rakes site and will extend an apology if one is needed. This person brought a lot to dishonor true combat veterans.

Mr. Engineer, thanks for the reply...I have already told my mystery anonymous date that I like and tolerate smart asses, but he she or it is an asshole and will be deleted.
This is all part of the Northern Ohio Barbs Rancid Asshole Association, who ever anonymous is, could it be Barb in Army boots? I don't care...
I will gleefully delete their posts.

Yes, their type would do just this type of thing.

When the trial on inteligent design being taught in schools in Dover, PA; it was the self proclaiming, good Christian folks who lied under oath in the court room. I guess the comandment of bearing false witness does not apply if it is for thier cause.

I'm confused??

microdot said...

Me too.
As far as I can figure out, I'm being blog swarmed by Big B and a few of her buddies. They have decided that I am secretly all of the cursed damned liberal bloggers in Northwestern Ohio as well as themselves, I think?

I am supposed to be a guy named Kooz and post embarrasssing mindless threats to Mudrake to make the real Kooz look bad and get him fired from his job as a manager of a very important 7-11 or what ever.

Now Barb is so confused that she doesn't know who is posting on Mudrakes blog. Kooz or a guy named Baldspot. They are so sneaky.

I might have further complicated the issue by claiming that I was Barb on Mudrakes blog yesterday.

I have decided to just flush the entire wagon load of fruitcakes...
I had some pretty creepy posts from an anonymous who claimed to researching me and was going to report my blog to the authorities?
So, I took my personal bio of the page.....

Barb, if you do read this, I am going to give you some advice that I would never normally give to anyone.
Perhaps, dear, you should start drinking. Become an alcoholic!
You'd become an ever so much more fun person and perhaps people would actually like you!
