HEY YA

I was working on my "office" remodeling project and I had the magic iPod playing that my friend, Brian gave us. It has his entire music library on it, 30,000+ pieces....
So, it's on shuffle mode and I figure I'll have heard everything in 10 years...?
Then this song came on.....
HEY YA by OUTKAST.

The cover band I was in used to play this song regularly - a crowd favorite! I covered the part of Possum Jenkins.

I would have loved to cover this...
I remember the first time I heard it, late at night on the "alternative" radio station in Perigueux. Outkast was just so cool...they crossed all the lines. This is what? PunkFunkSkunk Music? The lawn jockey costumes are the final mind fuck...

The line "Shake it like a polaroid picture" cracks me up everytime...
There are a few pieces of music that get me so excited that i can't drive a car and listen to them at the same time...
Shotgun by Jr. Walker,
Flashlight by Parliament
and Hey Ya is right up there....

A question if you venture back here Steve...when you covered it, did you play electric bass or a keyboard?
That bass part is just so crunchy...
Did you guys work with sequenced parts or play it all live?
