The Great Wall of Wal-Mart

Yesterday, I read that Wal-Mart Store Management was being told that voting for John McCain was in their best interests if they wanted to keep their jobs. They are being informed through a series of executive memos that a Democratic victory in November would insure that the emplyees would be allowed legally to unionize. The logic is that if the employees were allowed to unionize, it would force the stores to spend more on wages and benefits and force Wal-Mart out of business. The Store management is being told to pass this information on to the store employees. There is a law against this, isn't there? Does anyone care? Did you know that Wal-Mart was forced to allow employees in their stores in China to unionize as a condition to doing business there?

No, no one cares. Walmart denies telling anyone how to vote. Just because they had meetings and discussed the detrimental effects they believe the law would have on their company doesn't mean you can't put an Obama bumper sticker on your car if you work at Walmart! I guess since you work at non-union Walmart, it's not going to be an especially nice car anyhow, which is good because odds are someone will key it or slice a tire or 2 if you do.
Walmart's not dumb. They'll stay just this side of legal.
