The Rationals "Respect" 1967

This was such a big regional hit in the midwest in 1966/67 by one of the best white punk soul bands ever.
I finally have forgiven Scott Morgan, the singer for walking off with my date in 1966. It was kind of traumatic for a 15 year old kid, but I got over it. Scott's still performing and as good as ever.
The Rationals, Respect, originally issued on Cameo Records in 1966.

A Detroit band I presume?

BTW, was that CKLW's Robin Seymour introducing them?

Do you realise that the our home town no longer exists? Thank you Capitalism!

My question answered:

Yep, they are indeed from the Motor City.

But, is that Robin Seymour?

Yes indeed that was Robin Seymour's Swingin Time on CKLW channel 9!
The Rationals were a great band. They were actually from Ann Arbor. Scott's version of Handbags and Gladrags almost made Rod Stewart trash his. Scott played with Fred Smiths Sonic Rendezvous band for years, then went on to revive his career as a white soul artist with the Swedish band, The Hellacopters. He's still singing as good as ever.
Who knows what ever happened to Linda Kirvda, my ex girlfriend who got dragged by Scott Morgan....

Yeah, I'm keeping up with the latest stuff about detroit and how Governor Scott has destroyed it.

Of course, I was 6 at the time, but I still remember them...
