Do you know if the Schmenge brothers actually played their instruments?

Well, Mr. Levy and Candy may not have been virtuosos on the clarinet and accordion, but the Schmenge Brothers were...and I think that is all that really matters here.

haha, true! I ask because I opened another video that was scrolling by after the above video played and it was a live schmenge performance of "coffee and cabbage rolls". And they were really playing, I kind of remember them going on David Letterman when I was in high school, maybe 1982 or so and playing a couple of songs. I just found it surprising that they "took the show on the road".

Instead of studying last night I spent a good 3 hours tracking down other SCTV videos.. THANKS A LOT!

My fave so far of what I've found is the Schmenge Christmas - that's ONE BIG CABBAGE ROLL! And the Connie Franklin sad songs. I forgot how funny those guys were!

Very funny, never heard of the Schmenge brothers before, they obviously didn't cross the Atlantic.

The Schmenge Brothers were the cultural ambassadors of Leutonia.
Steve, I have been rediscovering SCTV...
The good old days, when the Russians could highjack the signal and broadcast their great programs like "What's My Shoesize?" or "How Many Countries Can Fit Into Soviet Union?"
I posted their promo of the remake of Taxi Driver starring Bob Hope.
