What Happened To My Future?

This is a vision from my 10 year old self of how I really thought we would be living in 1980! Why don't cars have cool fins anymore? Why can't we just put a punch card in the destination slot of the on board Chrysler LeBaron computer that says Grandma's House and sit back and play Parcheesi as the silent nuclear steam engine powered car uses its on board radar to safely keeps us a prudent distance from the next vehicle? In 1960, everything seemed reasonable.

Shit, I remember the cars hovering over the earth.

Anyway, even in the more mundane vision of the future--I thought we would work on poverty, racism, the environment, over population and live in an enlightened world.

Instead, people like Sepp are running around throwing spanners in the works.

I grew up in Detroit. My father worked at the Chrysler Missel Plant. On the street I lived on, a neighbor who was an exec for Chrysler was one of the lucky people selected to test Chryslers first futuristic turbine cars.
That was around 61 or 62 and it was a vision of the future. He showed us kids how it would run on cooking oil or vodka.
We would go to the Autorama and see the cars of the future...Plymouths with light sensitive reactive plastic clear bubble roofs. It was all just around the corner.

Sepp, is getting more and more infantile in his ramblings...he approaches everything with a simplistic view non analytical view. It reminds me of when I lived in the east Village in NYC. The Hells Angels have an entire building on East Third Street and they are still there, but for years, across the street from them was an abandoned building with a cinder block wall. It was the Big Vinnie Memorial Wall and spray painted across the wall was the phrase, "When In Doubt, Knock'Em Out."
Words of wisdom, I suppose.
