Shazzaam!

This is the week that France will adopt Mariage pour Tous  as the  law of the land. The conservative Catholics and the Front National are kicking and screaming up to the wire. The Ultra Conservative Catholic Civitas Organization is holding non stop prayer services in the streets of Paris to ask god's damnation to rain down on the blasphemous Socialiste administration. When the law came up for a vote today in the French Legislature, it was revealed that the Conservative deputies had tacked almost 200 ridiculous proposals onto it as a tactic to delay the vote...The results...a disaster in the polls for the Conservatives...we are sick and tired of the whining of a small irrelevant portion of French Society taking up so much of our time and space. As Frank Zappa said, "Look here, brother, who you jivin' with that cosmic debris?"

Have your conservatives taken that as a sign they need to reform? Or is it like here in 'Murka where they believe if they double down on stoopid they'll win in the end? Cosmik Debris is one of me favorite Zappa blooz toonz! What a talented lyricist Frank Vincent was.

What a great version of The Mothers this was....Jean-Luc Ponty, Ruth and Ian Underwoood, George Duke...I think this was from a Swedish television show from the early 70's. I have a few pieces in the works but I am finding it hard to actually sit down to write. My wife just got back from a major foot reconstruction surgery and she's still really out of it. I am the entire operation here for the next few months...chief cook and bottle washer as well as everything else...It's pouring rain, one of the dogs just peed on the carpet and I have to get more wood! I think I will have two new pieces ot post tomorrow, and I'm trying to put together something on the lost libraries of Timbuktu! Really!

Jean-Luc Ponty? I saw him once in Pittsburgh. I wore a younger mans clothes. The show was stolen by Ralph Armstrong. He donned a yellow jumpsuit and was simply incredible. It's been over 30 years since I've seen that show, but I still remember walking away from that one in a more righteous state. I hope he is well.

I saw Ponty with Zappa, but then again a few years later when he was having his success with his fusion rock band...It was just cool enough to hear him speak english and say the names of his copmpositions...Ze Egnimatic Ozeannnnnn. The opening act for him was an acoustic performance by Larry Coryell. That was after Coryell had ended his ground breaking incredible fusion band, The 11th House...It was in Ann Arbor where the IIth House had played so many times, so at the end of Ponty's set, ;the crowd was screaming for Coryell to get up on stage and jame with the Ponty band...They did one piece...a pretty incredible version of Third Stone From the Sun...Coryell and Ponty? that would have been some band...like Django and Grapepelli on acid!
