A Foul Mood

So I admit I was in a bad mood yesterday when I posted my SCHLACK-POUM piece. Not that it wasn't warranted, but sometimes, well, we are just a little over the edge...See, it's almost spring. I hate winter. It was almost springlike two weeks ago and then it started to rain and we were enveloped in a continual envelope of cold fog. The wood pile is practically finished. We had to buy more fuel oil. I want to bike ride...I have been trying to ride my bike and when I saw the sun yesterday morning, I got excited. Then I saw the weather report and they said the temperature was going to go all the way up to 9...that's celsius....almost 50 farenheit. So I was dead set on biking. After lunch, the sun was beginning to fade, but I intrepidly went out and checked my tires and set off. I decided to go down to Hautefort. It's a 40 kilometer round trip, but the terrain here is far from flat. In the summer, I do it all the time.
The hardest part usually is getting from here to the main road. It's a getting started kind of thing. Up a hill, then down a hill then up a hill to get to Badefols d"Ans. That's a kilometer and a half.
By the time I got to Badefols, the sky was turning grey and a cold wind was kicking in from the North. Intrepidly, Microdot pedaled on.
To get to Hautefort, you take a road which is basically straight down hill, in various grades with a few stages. Fine...I headed down hill, thinking at the time...Gee Garsh, It's been months since I attempted any kind of biking this strenuous, I got to go back uphill when I get down there.
No matter, the intrepid Microdot pedaled on...I got to Hautefort and continued stupidly in a downhill direction to the Coop Agricole, where I wanted to buy some stupid washers to repair a leaky faucet.
Meanwhile, the sky had gone to solid grey, the temperature had dropped and the fog had returned.
So, reality set in. I had to ride back up the hill 10 kilometers and I was already kind of whacked.....
The intrepid Microdot started to pedal...up the hill from the Coop...about 1 and 1/2 kilometers to Hautefort, then onwards...in my lowest fucking gear!!!! I was doing it and getting the strange kind of high you get when you are engaging in a life threatening experience....

Then I got to a level place, Boslavie, where I could actually see Badefols across the hills and valleys. I was almost all the way up the hill! I felt the adrenaline! Then my back tire popped.
I had run over some kind of double pointed brad and had to shakily find my tool kit, remove the tire, take it off the rim and try to find the puncture. At this point, I realized my feet were freezing.
It took a while, but I patched the tire, put it back on the rim and and felt an over whelming fatigue as I looked at the remaining 3 fog enshrouded kilometers I had to go just to get up to the road to Badefols.
I did it and then I was back on the road to La Sechere and back in the warm house.
I didn't die, I didn't even catch a cold and today I didn't even ache...but last night?
I WAS PISSED!
(The first video is a view from the road where I start the descent to Hautefort, you can see the Chateau.
The second is a view from La Boslavie, where my tire blew out. It's nice and green in the videos, it wasn't at all yesterday.....for further reference, the big white chateau is Hautefort, the cute little grey one is Badefols d'Ans)

Hello Microdot,
What a truly beautiful place you live in. It is supposed to be in the 60’s tomorrow here in the mid-Atlantic Region.

Count your blessings where you can find them, take a deep breath lung full of fresh air and enjoy the day…..Spring will soon be here my friend, we will be recharged, and we will tackle the insanity of the world once again soon enough.

In the mean time I will pass on a quote from William Shakespeare in honor of our British friend, Laci, to include him too. I know the time for those INSANE minds that drive the Ultra Conservative Right in the U.S. like the Governors of Wisconsin, Ohio, and now Rhode Island; those no different than current events of Moammar Gadaffi and others in the Middle East, all will implode and die a slow agonizing political death…. I give you….

Shakespeare's Richard II Speech Segment Quote:

For God’s sake let us sit upon the ground
And tell sad stories of the death of kings -
How some have been deposed, some slain in war,
Some haunted by the ghosts they have deposed,
Some poisoned by their wives, some sleeping killed;
All murdered. For within the hollow crown
That rounds the mortal temples of a king
Keeps Death his court, and there the antic sits,
Scoffing his state and grinning at his pomp,
Allowing him a breath, a little scene,
To monarchize, be feared, and kill with looks,
Infusing him with self and vain conceit,

Man it just doesn’t get better than that!!

Now an Engineer Of Knowledge Quote:
“The Progressive Arts Will Out Last Political Power” that tries to hold down, stifles progresses; that which rules through lies and fears!!! Revolutions are not caused by revolutionaries, it is the demographic, economic, social, and political forces that create a revolutionary environment that anoint and propel someone to the status of revolutionary, or some may call radical liberals depending on their prospective. Either way, the progressive viewpoints of man will win….that is why it is call Progress.

I keep hoping that the Sane EoK segment will reclaim the Repubican Party. I almost voted for Anderson in the first election I voted (1980), but went for Carter instead. The rightward trend was beginning to take hold in the repubs with the rise of the religious right.

For some reason, there has been no leadership in the US regarding the public expression of religion, which I find hypocritical. So what if Obama is a muslim? Article VI says that no religious tests should be applied to public office.

BTW, bike rides or hikes in nature are a good way to get one's mind together.
